why yes… it was {really fun}! – mentoring session with Teresa Earnest of {really fun} workshops

Southern as a sweet Georgia peach dripping with enthusiasm, I experienced my {really fun} mentoring session with Teresa of Memories n More!

Armed with my camera, open mind and heart full of passion I drove to The Savannah Studios to meet my new “photog bff”. Teresa had to put up with a squeaky (no voice!), weary eyed Aunt who recently babysat for her precious SICK niece and is working through the side effects. It was a challenge but we managed to communicate beautifully.

She welcomed me into wedding heaven as we climbed the stairs to her studio. Up up up into Savannah Wedding Studios I received a tour of all the precious rooms where the team meets with the brides that will benefit greatly from a creative, hardworking team of experts! Once we settled into our little room with a soft sofa (good for Aunt Jeni’s with a cold to be comfy!) Teresa talked with me about the progression of my passion and why I was perched on her sofa today.

As a classically trained fine artist, cameras were no strangers to me! I had the basics down but that transition from passion to purpose was what Teresa had mastered and I was eager to learn! Part of that was workflow… I had a decent process down but I really needed that next nudge of creativity so Ms. T set up a quick prop shoot and away we went…

this is before…………………(of COURSE there are peaches involved!)

and this is when Jeni “saw the light!” with LR (Light Room 3) and realized that her decently composed images could POP! and the vision in her little head could dance in the image before you… cool? You really see the focus of the rings now… I used my spiffy macro lens and really made this fake cake look ok! ha ha

so then ms. t put her fantabulous bouquet into the window of the studio, placed a plump peach by it’s side and said “do something with that!” um, ok! so BEFORE to the left here…

and then with the magic of presets etc. and the kind, gentle guidance of Teresa…. VOILA! Peaches n’ Cream Baby! You know it… yeah!

So then we took it to the STREETS of SAVANNAH… of course there is history, gardens, more history, cool old bricks, houses and more gardens but Savannah is also known for its FOOD! yeah, we ate first…

as we went to this cute little cafe downtown… focus on facebook was Teresa’s thought and well, focus she did! How many of you “work with your tongue” I know I do… something about it sticking out makes you smarter! (tee hee) Don’t kill me ms. t for posting this shot… please! it’s payback for a certain comment made and you know what I’m talk’n about! muh ha ha ha!

As we headed out after lunch I shot a quick street scene to get the feel of history in the air… it was running through my eyes like horses set free in the field… and I knew what I was looking for. Cool shots I could make sparkle!

Overall it was a grand adventure in exposure to new ideas, making a new friend and realizing that there is a whole other dimension to my photography that is seeping out of the cracks now. WATCH OUT! I’m loose and holding my camera! Many thanks to Teresa… don’t forget to watch her blog… {really fun} workshops has a great photo of Teresa without her tongue sticking out, too!
CHEERS to GROWTH and Photography LOVE!

I’ll leave you with some of my befores and afters… let me know what you think! xo -jeni
